Continuing Development

So the game jam Lightbird was made for, #devtober, has been over for a week now. It's time to get back to business. This week was more or less a given break time to recharge, think, and to plan for the road ahead. Also the demo is available, and some great feedback has been coming in, highlighting some changes that need to be implemented.

During the last couple days a "master task list" was created on Trello, which is pretty in depth and covers all the aspects and features needed to complete the game. Some of these changes should be pretty simple to complete, and will be rolled into the demo version post haste. (This revision will probably be the last publicly available version until final release.) If nothing else, the task list should help boost morale as development continues, as items get checked off. This should also help stave off "feature creep" which can sometimes slow development to a crawl.

The to-do list can be broken up into general groups as follows, each with various sub items:

  • Sounds
  • Music
  • Changes from feedback
  • Remaining game play features
  • Extra polishing
  • Menu rework
  • Branding and marketing
  • Release trailer
  • Bug patches

Some categories will be finished quickly, some (like the branding and marketing) will take quite a lot of time. So there is a lot to do!

If you would like to help steer the coarse of game development, please play the demo and leave some feedback. It's all appreciated, and maybe your comments could change the future!
